Introduce

Wafer Head Self Tapping Screw is used for all sorts of material including wood, metal, and brick. Self tapping screws also called sheet metal screws, are very versatile. Self tapping screws can be used to securely fasten metals together. These screws cannot drill through metal and require a pilot hole to be pre-drilled before installation.

Wafer head screws are drill point fasteners for fixing drywall profiles one to the other providing a large holding surface or for accessory mountings on steel structures up to 2.5 mm thickness.

The difference between self-tapping screws and self-drilling screws

  • The most important difference between self-tapping and self-drilling screws is that self-tapping screws cannot go through metal without a pilot hole, which must be pre-drilled or pre-punched.
  • Unlike self-tapping screws, self-drilling screws need no pilot hole to cut and fasten; they can drill, tap, and fasten in one go, which saves you the extra step of drilling, then fastening.
  • Etween these two, however, self-drilling screws offer two distinct advantages: time and costs saved at assembly time, and reduced error in installation, which often happens if one pre-drills holes in the wrong size.

Application

  • metal-to-metal fastening
  • metal and light steel framing
  • heavier gauge metal fastening applications
