Button head machine screws are typically designed with finer, more accurate threads than alternative fastener types. Machine screws are used together with bolts and nuts. Machine screws are most often used for fastening metal parts securely together in various types of machinery or construction.

The stainless steel machine screw has a plain finish and a button head with a pin-in-star drive. Stainless steel resists corrosion and may be magnetic. The pin-in-star drive has a six-pointed indentation with a center pin that resists tampering by requiring a special driver to tighten or loosen the screw.

Button Head – Rounded head most often used in socket driven screws. Becoming more common with Torx / Six-lobe drives as well. Fillister Head – Smaller diameter and higher profile than round or pan heads allows for deeper slot.
