Large flange head rivets are a type of blind rivet, distinguished by having a larger flange than dome rivets. We stock large flange rivets in steel and aluminium.

Firmly Performence – Strong enough to support all of your projects. Superior corrosion resistant suitable for salt water applications.

Large Flange Blind Rivets are the most popular rivet variety available.

Aluminium Blind Rivet

  • Ideal for wide range of applications
  • Available in a variety of materials
  • Dome, countersunk or large flange head styles
  • Painted color finishes available to match surroundings
  • Large flange rivets are used when there is no access to the blind side of the two materials
  • Larger washer distributes pressure over a greater surface area
  • Used to join two materials together quickly
  • After mandrel breaks off domed head is left exposed
  • Commonly used to prevent damage to soft materials and deter pull-through
  • Aluminum rivets should never be used with stainless steel: Corrosion may occur

Instaling a Blind Rievt

Before rivet installation can occur, several things must be taken into account.

  • Host Materials
  • Head Shape Design
  • Rivet Length & Diameter
  • Grip Range
  • Load and Shear Values
  • Rivet Installation Tool

Installing a large flange blind rivet is a simple and extremely fast process ,only the few simple steps listed below.

  • Drill a hole into the materials, after that choose a place the rivet into the two materials.
  • Place the Rivet Installation Tool on the mandrel of the rivet.
  • Activate the tool (usually by some lever or trigger mechanism) to pull the mandrel towards the surface.

Blind Rivet Applications:

Large Flange Blind Rivets can be used just about anywhere if they are properly installed. Most of them are used in Aircraft manufacturing, Machinery, Sheet metal fabricating, Small Electronics, Structural Beams, Battleships and Submersibles.

How To Remove a Rivet ?

Aluminium Blind Rivets are meant to be permanent joints but sometimes must be removed. To remove blind rivets, take a drill bit that is the same diameter as the hat or a size larger and drill through the rivet. Make sure the drill bit is rated for the rivet material. If before or during the rivet drilling process the rivet begins to spin, stop and cover the rivet in blue painters or duct tape. This should be enough to hold the rivet in place as the drill eats through it. Once extracted, the same hole can be used for a new rivet.
